Meet Tara. The Story Behind The Right Turn.

From immigrant to 7-figure founder. From corporate exhaustion to freedom on my own terms.

I came to the United States from India on an F1 visa, chasing education, opportunity, and a dream that felt both exciting and impossible. After graduating, I began my career in risk consulting - but I knew I wanted to do more.

My real journey began when I joined Gusto back when it was still ZenPayroll and only ~150 people strong. I helped build and scale the risk systems that would support its explosive growth.

From there, I became the first risk hire at Plaid - the company was only 50 people. I helped shape the foundation for a company that went on to change an entire industry. Later, I joined Stripe, where I started as a senior program manager and soon found myself relocating to Seattle to build risk operations for North America. In three months, I hired and trained a team of 16. Eventually, I was leading multiple global teams.

On paper, my career looked like a dream. But life had a different plan for me.

The Turning Point

After Stripe, I joined FigureHR as VP of Operations, a company whose mission I deeply believed in. But at the same time, my husband and I were going through the painful reality of fertility struggles. After a series of miscarriages, I realized I needed to step back. Soon after I left, I finally got pregnant.

But what should have been the happiest time of my life turned into one of the hardest. I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), a condition that left me so ill I spent most of my pregnancy in the hospital, hooked to IV drips three times a week. Later, I was also diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It was an exhausting, humbling season. But it gave me the greatest gift of all - my beautiful son, who is pure magic.

When I returned to work, I joined Mercury to lead risk program management and eventually financial crimes, managing a team of over 40. But after pouring so much of myself into bringing my son into this world, I couldn't ignore the truth anymore: I didn't want to spend all my time working.

I had built my reputation. I had the titles. I had the paycheck. But I wanted freedom. I wanted to live on my terms.

So I walked away from the traditional tech world - the stability, the status, the safety net - and started my own risk and compliance consulting business.

In 2.5 years, I generated $2M in revenue (cash + equity). I moved my family across the world to Lisbon, Portugal, where we live the life of our dreams. Today, I'm in charge of my calendar, most months working not more than 25-hour weeks. I choose my clients. I decide when I sprint and when I rest. And most importantly, I live in alignment with the life I once only dreamed of.

Now, I'm building this course because I know I'm not the only one who wants more. I know there are women, especially moms, who feel the weight of ambition and responsibility, who crave freedom but don't know where to begin.

I want to show you exactly how I built my business, step by step. But more than that, I want to help you believe, because the truth is, believing you can is the single most important ingredient for building a life of freedom.

If I can do it being an immigrant, mom, survivor of one of the hardest pregnancies possible – then you can too.
